'Lock Down En Plein Air' is a series of smaller paintings depicting my favourite views. As an artist living and painting alone and in the absence of a bluebell wood or a cherry tree growing in my living room, I was able to continue working on location safely in isolation. I enjoyed the immediacy of working on smaller canvases and being able to respond quickly to changing light. In an oddly sad way, I took advantage of how quiet it was, I noticed more wildlife, the carpets of blue were less trampled on and I was able to paint all day without groups of walkers enlightening me on the progress of their grandchildren's water colour exploits.
